Chinchilla is a smallish sized country town located in southern Queensland, located in what is known as the Western Downs region. It has an approximate population of 5,500 people.

Best time to find fruit picking work in Chinchilla

Chinchilla is known as the "Melon Capital", and you can usually find work from December to April.

May to October should be avoided at all costs as there is no work to be found. Depending on the season you may be able to find work picking vegetables in November, but you should always organise work before you arrive.
