Denmark is a small coastal country town, with an approximate population of 2,800. It is located south of Perth, right on the southern coast of Western Australia.

Its postcode is 6333, which makes it an area eligible for backpackers and people wanting to come and work and travel Australia to extend their Working Holiday Visa to an Extended Working Holiday Visa.

It is located about 420 km's from Perth, which should take about 6 hours to drive, if you make a quick 30 minute stop about half way. It is located only 60 km's west of the large coastal town of Albany, which should not take more than 45 - 60 minutes to drive.

Best time to find fruit picking work in Denmark

Denmark only really grows berries and grapes.

The berry season can be a little unpredictable from year to year, but with a little luck you can generally find some work between December to March. The rest of the year you won't find any work picking berries.

Grapes generally have a better season, there is a lot of work to be found during June to September and during February to April, when they do the pruning to vine tying.

There is a number of motels, backpacker hostels, lodges and guest houses to be found in and around the town.

Some of the orchards may have limited accommodation for workers. But you should organise this with the orchard before starting work. Not all of them have accommodation options, and those that do only have a limited number of spots available.

You can also check with the local Tourist Information Centre to see what other options are available to you.
