Yeppoon is a large country town (some people call it a small city) with an approximate population of 13,500. It is located in the top of the southern half of Queensland, directly on the coast.

It is located about 680 km's from Brisbane, which should take about 8 - 8.5 hours to drive, if you don't make any long stops along the way. Cairns is about 1,100 km away, which will take about over a day to drive.

Rockhampton is about 40 kms away, that drive takes about 30 minutes. You can also find direct flights to Rockhampton from both Brisbane and Cairns running on a regular basis.

Best time to find fruit picking work in Yeppoon

Despite the fact there are a number of crops grown in the area, the only months that you are virtually guaranteed of finding work is January to February when mangoes need to be picked.

You may be able to find work from December to April picking either lychees, custard apples or pineapples, but you should organise a job before arriving. Depending on the season there may not be any work in these crops.

Avoid the months from May to November, there is virtually no work to be found in any of the crops.
