The climate in Hobart, and all of Tasmania for that matter, has been accurately described as very similar to the weather in England, although it should be noted that Hobart doesn't get quite as cold.

Hobart is surrounded by gorgeous
bush land and natural scenery!

If you are unsure of what the English weather is like, it means that the winters are very cold and wet, with a short summer season that can have some very hot days, but is generally considered warm rather than hot.

To get an idea of what you can expect all year round in Hobart, simply have a look at the table below! These temperatures are fairly standard right across Tasmania due it its relatively small size. The only noticeable exception to this is when you get up into the mountains, where it can be much colder, especially during the winter months.

Conclusion:

When planning your trip to Tasmania, this is what I recommend:

  • - If you want some warmer weather, you should come between November and March. But still bring a rain coat as it rains on average about once every 2.5 days!
  • - If you are planning on doing some mountain hiking, unless you are very experienced, avoid the winter months. Extreme weather, snow, storms, etc, can make hiking a very risky business in the Tasmanian mountains.
  • - Don't let the colder weather, compared to other parts of Australia, put you off coming to Tasmania as it truly one of the most beautiful states and the weather can be superb during the summer months!

Whenever you decide to come visit, I hope your trip is a success!
